Woodstove and Fireplace Glass
Auto Replacement Glass, Doors, Mirrors, Sunroofs, Skylights, Solariums Nanaimo, BC, Vancouver Island |
We sell clear ceramic glass for woodstoves, fireplace inserts, and fireplace screens. Manufacturers of these items are not required by any code in Canada to use ceramic glass, and often do not because it is more expensive than tempered glass, and adds to the cost of their product. Tempered glass, however, is designed to be impact resistant, not heat resistant, and should not be used in this application.
The problem this presents is that thousands of tempered glass doors in wood burning stoves, fireplace inserts, and fireplace screens sold across Canada will blow out from the heat of an average hardwood fire. When this happens, some people are still reluctant to replace the dangerous tempered glass with ceramic glass (which withstands heat up to 816 degrees Celsius) because it is substantially more expensive.
At Budget Glass, we make a special effort to explain this very important glass difference to our customers, and to sell the appropriate glass for every application. We feel that using the correct type of glass in your fireplace or woodstove is good insurance against a fiery disaster.
We have ceramic glass in stock, and it can be cut to your required size in our shop, often while you wait. |
